The British Academy postdoctoral fellowship is inviting proposals from researchers who are in the early stages of their careers in the social sciences and humanities and who wish to undertake an independent research project in the direction of the completion of an important piece of publication-worthy research.
The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship offers exceptional early career researchers the opportunity to improve their research experience as well as teaching within an academic setting. This program is designed to build the applicant’s curriculum vitae, and improve the likelihood of them securing an academic position that is permanent. The main focus is the achievement of a substantial work that can be published and the acceptance of the award winner to the established community of researchers in their area of expertise.

The Fellowship is not renewable.

British academy postdoctoral fellowship 2023-2024 Benefits:

This scheme falls by the Full Economic Costing (FEC) policy. The Academy is able to cover the majority of salary expenses, which is indirectly and directly allocated costs that are covered under FEC. Research expenses are covered with 100 percent within the upper limit of PS6000 for the duration of three years.

The British academy postdoctoral fellowship Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant must be a scientist in the humanities or social sciences, and reside at a recognized research institution or university. The institutions that are eligible include the UK university or recognized research institute that is based within the UK. British citizens as well as anyone else of within the EEA are eligible regardless of the place where their doctorate was earned. Anyone with a doctorate from an UK university is qualified. If the applicant doesn’t satisfy the preceding criteria and criteria, they can be accepted in the event of proving a “strong prior connection’ to members of the UK academia. Candidates must be of early Career Status, which means that they have to apply within 3 years of the date of their successful viva-voce exam. For this round of the competition applicants must have passed their viva until 1 April 2023.

The applicant must be a postdoctoral researcher at the time that it is the time that the Research Awards Committee meets.

Duration and value

The program is covered under the Full Economic Costing (FEC) system. The Academy covers 80 percent of the salary cost as well as indirect costs in accordance with FEC. The Fellowship is available for three years and will begin the autumn of 2023 at an UK-based university or college of higher learning.

Referee

The applicant must be accompanied by one referee who is self-nominated, who is required to complete the form on the Flexi-Grant. The person who is the referee must be an external examiner, or, if they are not available or not available, another person who is as independent of the applicant as they can be.
