Students can now apply online for the fully-funded Scholarships Program of the Korean Government KGSP Scholarships in the 2023-2024 batch sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education.

KGSP stands for Korean Government Scholarship Program. The fully-funded program provides scholarships at the best private and government universities in Korea. The KGSP offers scholarships to students in the following categories: Master’s, Ph.D., and Undergraduate.

KGSP’s main goal is to foster friendly, international relations between Korea and the rest of the world. The scholarship program will not only promote friendship but also encourage international talent exchange between other countries and Korea.

KGSP Scholarships Financial Coverage:
You will receive the following benefits if you are awarded the KGSP:
- All airfare costs will be covered by the KGSP
- An accommodation allowance of 200,000 KRW will be granted to you
- Every month, a living allowance of 20,000 RW is paid
- Monthly medical insurance is available for 20,000 to cover medical expenses.
- Coverage for the Korean language course costs 800,000 KRW per quarter
- Tuition fees are paid at a maximum of 5,000,000 KRW each semester
- For outstanding proficiency in the Korean language, a prize is presented
- Research projects are supported with a semester allowance of 210,000-240,000 KRW
- Printing costs for a thesis/dissertation range from 500,000 to 800,000 KRW
- The student receives a cash prize of 100,000 KRW upon completion of their degree
Eligibility Criteria for KGSP Scholarships 2023-2024
You should ensure you meet all eligibility requirements before applying for the Korean government scholarship program 2023.
- Korean nationality students cannot apply
- Students whose parents or both parents are Korean citizens cannot apply.
- All applicants must be physically, mentally, and financially able to stay in Korea until their degree is awarded.
- Every student who applies must have outstanding academic grades from their previous educational institution.
- Students must have a minimum CGPA of 80% or higher
- Students who have studied in Korea before cannot apply
- Students who have been awarded the KGSP scholarship previously can reapply, but only through their university
- Candidates for undergraduate degrees must not be more than twenty-five.
- Graduate students should not be older than forty-five
- Candidates must be graduates of high school and hold a high school diploma.
- Candidates for the graduate program should have completed their bachelor’s degree or master’s degree before they arrive in Korea.
The Application Procedure for KGSP Scholarships 2023-2024:
Before applying for the KGSP 2022 scholarship, please read the following details:
- Students may apply to Korea through their university or embassy.
- Candidates applying for admission must submit documents to either the Korean Embassy in their country of origin or directly to their university.
- To apply to the university of choice, you will need to follow the guidelines provided by them on their website.
- Only students who have been selected by the NIIED will be sent these documents by the Korean Embassy or Korean University.
- NIIED will review all documents and notify the Korean Embassy or the Korean University about any potential candidates.
- If you are selected for the scholarship, you will be notified via the university portal or by the Korean Embassy.
- If you are selected or rejected by the KGSP scholarship committee, you will not be notified.
- You can contact the Korean embassy or the Korean university directly if you have questions about the selection.
The Documents Requirements For the KGSP-2023-2024:
After you submit all the required documents, your application for the KGSP won’t be accepted. The inability to submit all required documents can cause delays and even cancel your application.
Here is a complete list of documents that are required to submit the KGSP-2023:
- A scanned copy of the highest degree attained
- Copies of the highest transcripts
- Recommendation letters to employees or professors
- Personal statement (required for master’s or Ph. D applicants
- Study Plan (mandatory requirement for master’s candidates)
- Research proposal (only available to Ph.D. applicants)
- Motivation letter, or an Intent letter (mandatory to undergraduate program applicants)
Notes:
- The application form should be filled in English or Korean only.
- All documents must be in their original format.
- Photographic copies must be certified
- Students will not receive documents that they have submitted to the NIIED.
- Only photocopies of certificates and awards are accepted.
- Two different recommenders must write the recommendation letter
- Each candidate must submit three sets of photocopied original documents as well as one set of application documents to the Korean Embassy. Only applicants applying through the Korean Embassy are eligible for this requirement.
- If the student is applying directly for their university, they will need to submit only one set of original documents.
Application Deadline for KGSP 2023-2024:
Only one Korean government scholarship program is offered each year. There is no set deadline or opening date. You must adhere to all deadlines.
Each university has its deadline. Each degree program also has its deadline. It is best to get in touch with the university directly to find out about the deadline and opening date.
